So my friend just hooked me up with a PSU to use until he returns home from vacation and I do not want to be blammed for naything that may have already been there. Anyway.. I looked inside this PSU, which btw is brand new, he just bought it maybe 2 weeks ago. He has yet to get around to building his new rig so all his stuff is just sitting there.

Anyway, I opened the box the PSU was in, its a Corsair TX650, and on the inside under the fan it looks like there are zip ties holding what looks to be a circular thing with copper wires wrapped around it. I am thinking this maybe the capacitor? Also there is a white glue like residue or something on it. I will try to take good enough pictures to show..

It's a voltage regulation choke.

Bah I am sorry for the confusion.. I meant I opened it up out of the box. Wow... I am stupid for wording that incorrectly.

That's normal. TX series isn't as well built as the AX, but will work fine in your rig. With Corsair's warranty and support, you shouldn't have a problem, (unless your mobo's toast)...

Gigabyte Z590 Vision G Mobo, intel i3 10105 CPU, 32GB GSkill Ripjaws DDR4 3200 RAM, EVGA GTX 750ti FTW Video Card, EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2 power supply, Fractal Design Focus G (White) case, Cooler Master Hyper212 RGB Black CPU cooler. 2 Dell LED Monitors (20" & 24"), SK Hynix Gold 1TB SATA SSD (OS Drive), 6 WD HDDs 13TB total (Storage).
Rig is a partial update on the old Gigabyte P43/Q6600 OC rig... The WD HDD's, (13TB, total), Blu-ray & DVD burners,  GTX750ti FTW & Supernova 850 G2 psu, migrated from old setup... Will get an 11700K, and an RTX 3060 12GB Black card, when I'm ready to OC... Windows 11 Pro set for performance, and it runs at 4.2Ghz...
Thrustmaster Ferrari GT Experience Wheel/Pedals,
Built for Gaming, Video Production, and Cakewalk, Cubase DAWs...

Ehh I am not sure about th emobo yet but either way I am getting a new computer basically real soon. Getting an amd 1090t BE and an Asrock 990FX mobo.. And hopefully I can either get my perma psu soon. Just curious. Anyone know if this is strong enough to power my soon to be rig? For I might be able to use this PSU for atleast a week and I might be getting my new pc early next week...

it is going to be
Amd Phenom II X6 1090T BE
Asrock 990FX Extreme(I think)
Evga GTX560 SC(Non TI)
8G 4x2G 1600MHZ DDR3 Memory
2 Sata II 7200 RPM HDDS
Corsair H60 with Push/Pull set up
Old IDE Samsung DVD Drive
and like 4 - 6 120MM fans?

Can anyone answer ^^ question? Or can someone refer me to a more up to date PSU calculator? The links on the PSU thread are either not working or only show certain items which do not include ANYTHING I currently have.

When you buy a psu, get a 750, so you have a bit of power to spare. Yes, your loner will work with that setup...

Thank you and this is just for temporary purposes. When the 1500 is released I will be receiving a Antec1200 so I think I will have enough power to spare for things? Heh...

its fine to open the psu, just know two things

1) if you have an extra screw you probably should through it away

2) dont touch the big parts ( transformer )
