P1424H, replacement was not the same model
Last year I bought a P1424H 14" portable monitor new from Dell. Definitely wasn't the cheapest nor did it have the most features, but I have two 27" IPS displays from them at home, which are superb. So I figured I'd roll the dice and buy one of the most expensive portable monitors I could find from them.
One year later, the power supply hisses/squeals audibly whenever it's in Standby. I use this monitor on the road and leave it connected to my laptop for multiple days. The squealing stops when it's completely unplugged and it functions normally when it's displaying a picture. What a pain. Not what I expected for almost $300.
I went through the online support route and literally did everything under the sun for the rep. All the steps to verify power on/ cable connected, self-tests, things that had no relevance but I played along anyway. I recorded video of the picture and sound. The rep didn't seem to understand that this model of monitor doesn't have OSD or menu options, it's like he was referencing a completely different monitor, but whatever. His checklist, not mine. Whatever gets us to resolution.
So he said they'd send me a refurbished one, uh, ok, I originally bought a new one. But the service ticket had a disclaimer that refurb doesn't necessarily mean "returned" or "used". So, in good faith I played along.
The monitor arrived today. It's not even the same model as mine. Dirty, worn (obviously carried around by someone else, for quite some time). The manufacture date is a whole two years older than the one I have, and it's incapable of displaying full screen resolution when connected to my (Dell) laptop. I was livid. Not the same model, not the same condition, a huge waste of time so far. I literally spent more than an hour with the first two online dell reps.
So, I tried to look up the replacement monitor's service tag to get support. I got a pop-up saying US support wasn't available because the device was registered in Brazil. <Profanity is never allowed on our Forum. DELL-Admin>
I called their support number and the rep was able to look up the original service tag (which now has an invalidated warranty?). She couldn't understand why they didn't even send the same model, and said they'd send one that matched what I have. I explained I didn't want a monitor that was older than mine, and I really don't want anything refurbished at all; that's not what I paid for in the first place. She could make no guarantee I'd receive the same age, newer, or even a new one.
<Any monitor exchange done

the first 30 days from the Dell invoice date will be a refurbished. DELL-Admin>
This is for home/personal use. My company isn't paying for this, this isn't through my work's IT department, this is something I bought for myself. Is this what Dell has turned into these days? If so, I'm extremely disappointed.
If service tags are sequential, I can already tell the 2nd replacement they are sending is older than the service tag I currently have, and I'm going from disappointed, to angry.
I've come here to vent and see if anyone cares? Probably not?

Update: The replacement model was a C1422H, which is a similar design to the P1424H, but the former appears to have been discontinued. I'll chalk it up to a mistake, but being asked to accept a refurbished unit with wear and a manufacture date a full two years older than the one I had seemed less than equitable.
The second (third?) rep I worked with sent a replacement which arrived yesterday. It was still a refurb unit, but it was the correct model. To be clear, I'm OK with a refurbished unit as long as it's in as good of condition as my equipment is, and is the same age or newer. This replacement met that criteria.
I came here to vent, to seek support, and others' experience. Instead, a Dell Admin edited my post instead and appears to have stated a line from Dell's Warranty replacement program of which I was already aware and did not address any of my concerns. Thank you, very helpful.
