How do i connect 2 external Monitors to my Laptop (Dell Inspiron 15 5502)

Hi and thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

So, i have a Dell Inspiron 15 5502.

It has 1 HDMI port which I'm using to run a BenQ monitor from perfectly fine. I'm looking to add another monitor but im unsure the best and most inexpensive way to do it, or if it is even possible to get a 2nd external monitor hooked up.

i have a spare USB port and a Spare USB-c port. My USB-c port doesn't have a lighting symbol next to it, it has like a 'D' symbol next to it.

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff, I'm just hoping i can buy a monitor and hook it up via using the USB-C port.

Appreciate any advice! Cheers!

@Ginger2021 That "D" symbol is actually a "DP" logo, specifically the DisplayPort logo.  That means your USB-C port supports video output.  So the simplest solution would be a USB-C to DisplayPort cable if you'll be getting a display that has a DisplayPort input.  Otherwise, there are USB-C to HDMI cables too, but if your display gives you the choice, go with the former for reasons I just wrote up in this post .

@Ginger2021 Adding to my answer above, according to the Setup and Specifications for your system here , your system's USB-C power also supports USB Power Delivery, which typically means it can charge via USB-C.  (Some systems only support USB PD to provide additional power to peripherals rather than receive it, but on a recent Inspiron 15 5000 Series system, I doubt that's the case.)  In that case, you may want to consider getting a display with an actual USB-C input, because in that case if your system supports that feature, you could use a USB-C to USB-C cable to send video to your display, receive power from it, and even have USB data in order to use USB ports built into the display, if applicable -- all running over a single cable.  That type of display is essentially a docking station built into a display.  The specs for that system also indicate that it can come with either a 45W or 65W adapter, presumably depending on the exact configuration of the system.  You can check the wattage of the power adapter that came with your system, but even finding a display that provides up to 65W isn't difficult.  If you have a sense of what size/resolution display you'd want, I can suggest one or more Dell displays that would fit the bill.

I have this same question, but for a Dell Inspiron 15 3520, which does not have a USB-C port. I do have a spare USB  3.2 Gen1 port. Is there a product that you could recommend that I could plug into that port to get to a second external HDMI monitor? Thanks for any help you can give.
