XPS 8960, 14th Gen Intel Core i7-14700 processor nightmare

XPS 8960

XPS 8960

This is just a heads up for the community,

I spent a grand and a half on this heap of junk less tan 3 months ago.

It has never been right from day one.

Last Friday (the 6th), catastrophic hardware failure (CPU cooling dead).

Dell so called pro support NO PARTS before the 18th.

Repeated refusal to exchange for one that works, yet they can deliver the same ting in two days (for another £1500.00).

Does this PC have 65W or 125W air cooling or 125W liquid cooling?

Are you saying that with Pro support, you should get a system exchange anytime something break instead of a repair?

How are you going to exchange for another system when yours is way pass the eligibility return period?

@Chino de Oro No. Its under warrantee, if they are unable to repair in a reasonable period they should replace under UK consumer law.

A grand and a half of XPS 8960 suffers catastrophic hardware failure within 3 months of purchase (September 06 2024).

Have Dell got spare parts? NO THERY HAVE NOT! And NOW PARTS ARE DELAYED! The extending estimated piece of string just gets longer week by week!

Trying to make a formal complaint is impossible, its more stressful and painful than banging your head ageist a concrete wall. No one is proactive in any form, in short no bugger gives a you know what!

Yet if I give Dell another grand and a half I can have the same spec NEXT DAY!

Good old DELL hay! They demand to miniplate everything which includes their CUSTOMERS.

Sure DELL are well big enough to trample all over the little people like us with impunity, However it should not be so!

Thank you so much DELL for deleting crucial information without referring to your Customer, not that you are actively attempting to shut the customer up now are you, of course you are because you sold faulty goods and are unable to repair in a reasonable time frame!

The Faulty goods are an XPS 8960 with the unique service tag <Do not post your private data in a public Forum. DELL-Admin>

I am equally sure you will find a way of calling this a violation and therefore delete but hay for as long as it stays up, folks deserve to be able to see the truth about DELL wen DELL mess up!

You may have two different problems here.

Read this about the Intel problems with their 13th and 14th Gen CPUs.  You need to update to latest BIOS to fix this issue.

If you have the liquid CPU cooler, there have been a number of threads about them failing. So you're not alone with this one, not that this makes you feel any better. Seems to have been problems at the pump's manufacturer.  Getting an exchange doesn't guarantee the pump in the new PC won't (eventually) fail too. So you may want to wait for new/better parts.

Please don't post your Service Tag in a public forum. Treat your Service Tag as private info.  Only share your Service Tag with a Dell employee privately, only when asked to provide it. That helps protects your personal info...

If there is such a law, Dell would have exchange your system already instead of scheduling for a repair and you would not be here spamming the forum.  I see that Mod has given warning for your violation and conduct.

This forum is user to user base community with some moderations and Dell-Care employees help routing questions to proper personnel and support groups.  All your inflammatory posts have no meaning in term of users in this forum to help with your issue.  Although, I think you should get better service from a Pro support warranty contract.
