XPS 15 9560 Does not recognize 130W Dell USB-C charger as 130W but 90W instead

Basically as stated in the title, I get the error message in BIOS when starting up the laptop everytime. The message says that the charger is only 90W but the system needs 130W even though the charger IS Dell USB-C 130W charger adapter.

THe laptop is XPS 15 9560.

@CielS and @XPS_Man , the Dell 130W USB-C charger was created for the XPS 15 9575 2-in-1, since it required 130W but Dell apparently didn’t want to install a barrel-style AC adapter port on it, so they had to come up with a USB-C charger capable of 130W — which they did by doing something proprietary since that was higher than the 100W max of the USB PD spec. After Dell released that charger, users of pre-existing XPS 15 models, like the 9560, found that it didn’t work at 130W with those systems, even though those older systems supported being charged at 130W via their USB-C/TB3 connectors from certain Dell docks. I’m not sure why Dell didn’t (or couldn’t?) add support for that charger to its older models, or why special support was even necessary given that those systems already worked with certain Dell docks, but that’s been the consistent finding from what I’ve read, so I doubt there’s anything you can do about it. And it won’t improve with third-party chargers, because XPS 15 models prior to the 9500 introduced in 2020 (as well as several other Dell laptops) limit USB-C charging from third-party sources to 65W, even if the charger can provide more power and the system would benefit from it. So if you want to charge via USB-C without using an actual dock, what you’ve got now is probably the best you’ll get.

All in all Bad Motherboard :

But sometimes can be caused due to a Bad Firmware or charger as well

you can try a BIOS RECOVERY

Now go to a nearby store which sells take your notebook with you. First try a type C charger and if it works pay for the charger ( you can use those Bit Coins)

If it doesn't work, ask for regular charger 130w , if it works, PAY ( now you know how to)

If none of the chargers work Get out of shop. Now I am assuming you are in USA / Canada and machine being an XPS 9560 is out of warranty.

Call dell's Out of warranty on this phone number  1800-288-4410

Seek a Quote for Motherboard replacement. (they don't accept Bit Coins)
