logitech video input not displaying on full preview screen

Hi there, I'm brand new to streaming and OBS (we're talking days) so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, I just can't seem to figure it out.

I'm using a logitech c920 hd pro webcam (NOT the c920s, just to be clear). I bought it 5 years ago, but never even opened the box until now. There doesn't seem to be any driver software available anymore for this model (I checked logitech's website, obvs). Mentioning this in case this might be my issue.

The cam is recognized by OBS no problem, and it appears in the preview screen and it's picking up the audio (I have the cam set up as my audio input device as well).

PROBLEM: my cam is only taking up about 1/4 of the preview screen (grab attached). I know I can move the red lines/box, and I did that, however my cam still doesn't take up the entire preview screen (grab attached, black bars on either side).

BOTH the base (canvas) and the output (scaled) settings for video are set to 1920 x 1080. The logitech cam is HD1080. My laptop's desktop display is at 1920 x 1080. I'm running Windows 10 on a laptop.

I honestly don't know what I'm doing wrong and any help is really appreciated. TIA

There is no issue. Everything is working as it is supposed. Your camera is detected fine and working correctly. Cameras like yours don't need any extra driver software. They're supported by Windows automatically.

The camera is occupying only the top left quarter, because its default resolution is only a quarter of your OBS canvas size.
If you scale it up to the whole height, you're magnifying the image.
There are still black bars right and left, because the aspect ratio of the camera resolution is different to the aspect ratio of the OBS canvas. To scale it up without black bars, both aspect ratios have to be the same.
You can configure the webcam resolution in the properties of the webcam source in OBS, and you can change to a bigger resolution usually. There are usually multiple resolutions available, with different aspect ratios. However, it doesn't make sense to increase the resolution beyond the native resolution of the webcam.

Since you didn't tell what you're trying to achieve in the end, that's about all we can tell at the moment.

Thanks so much for the reply. I cannot edit the resolution of the webcam in OBS. I right click the cam under sources and go properties > resolution, but the resolution field is blank and the field title is grey-ed out, and I can't click into the field itself (grab attached).

My goal is to have the entire camera feed take up the entire screen. I don't need to stream any other sources right now, just the cam. The camera is an HD 1080p. BOTH the base (canvas) and the output (scaled) settings for video in OBS settings are set to 1920 x 1080. I don't want the person viewing my stream to have black bars on both sides, I want my stream to encompass the entire screen.

TIA!

I found this in the OBS forum, but it's from 2018 so not sure it still applies.... although I purchased the webcam in 2018 so maybe this is my problem and I do in fact need to install a driver (which is no longer available for the C920.........)

"Make sure that you have the official drivers for the logitech C920 installed. You can get them from here and download the Logitech Webcam Software .
This comes with the drivers that enable you to use 1080p video in obs. With the windows default drivers you are restricted to around 480p"
