Below are steps to assist with hooking up your laptop dock. There is also a video link at the end of this article to show you step-by-step:
NOTE: If you are using an Apple Laptop, the Dock can only support one monitor. A second monitor will have to be connected to laptop directly.
Docking Station – Troubleshooting Guide:
FIRST - Please confirm that the laptop works on its own, not plugged into the docking station or any peripherals (mouse, keyboard, etc)
If so, please continue to step A.
A. Make sure the laptop isn't plugged into the dock and turn it off completely - not reboot, but shut down.
B. Once it is shut down completely, close the lid and plug it back into the dock.
C. Hit the power button on the dock and wait 10-15 seconds for the images to appear on the screen.
D. Most machines now have two USB-C slots on the left hand side. If it isn't working in the original, please try the second one.
E. Ensure that the USB-C Cable is plugged into the back as that is where it must be to connect to the laptop. It MUST be plugged into the port on the back - if it is plugged into the front USB-C port, it will NOT work.
F. Ensure that the adapter goes into the 135 W slot on the docking station.
G. If issues still persist, unplug the power plug from the dock (pictured above) wait 15 seconds, plug it back in, and try the steps again.
H. If you get a notification that the "ThinkPad USB-C Dock is not supplying enough power to your computer" the dock needs to be unplugged from the power source. Please unplug it for 10 seconds and try again.
