Logitech Wireless K350 Mouse Keyboard Combo problem

My company primarily uses wireless keyboards and mouse for all of our employees. For myself I purchased a Logitech® Wireless Wave Combo MK550 and loved it so I bought overtime this same setup for everyone else. Most of my users started having random characters showing up in typeable areas, Word, CAD, Browsers get “XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX” across in fields , or screen flicker, or random programs close, and the list goes on. I’m pretty sure it is related to the keyboard an mouse combo. I purchased the K+M combo from different outlets, at different times, so i dont think they were all built on a Friday right before a holiday.

I contacted Logitech and they want me to send them all back. Which I have yet to do, but Logitech said it could be 8 - 10 weeks before I get it back, so this makes this option almost nonviable or at least not a quick solution.

I have tried the following solution from this post “Fix: You must do all of these at the same time. Left Hand = LCtrl + LAlt + LShift while Right Hand = RCtrl + RAlt + RShift = Keyboard and Mouse reset.” but I don’t see a visual result to indicate if it does anything

I have uninstalled the Set point software and that seems to work for a short period of time, then it wiggs out randomly a few weeks later.

I re-synced the Unifying device with the K+M combo and same thing.

So for right now I just have my users turn it off and then on again and at least it clears the problem for a week or two.

So I guess my long winded question is, does anyone have a solution/fix/anything?

I’d just bite the bullet and send them all back. The sooner you do that, the sooner you get them back.

Sounds like interference to me.

I agree with Galen. What I would do is actually switch them out if you have wired ones… Just do it to confirm it is the keyboards and mice.

If it is then you can try analyzing what users are having the problem… How close do they sit to each other? If they all seem to sit in the same general area and other users are not having the problem, then switch the Keyboard and Mouse out with a couple of users… See if the problem continues… If it does, then I would send them all back…

Thanks for the input. I think Ill just have to bite the bullet and start sending them to Logitech in small groups. Were sitting cubicle to cubicle so it could be some kind of interference between devices. I was just hoping there was a magic fix that someone knew about that I hadn’t already tried but alas…

If they’re still under warranty, 8-10 weeks seems pretty unrealistic for a turnaround time. I would call back, ask to speak to a supervisor, and ask if this could be expidited considering how many units you’ve purchased from their company. Additionally, you can also ask about advance replacements.

However, as others have mentioned, I’d verify that it isn’t an interference problem first. Hook a few up wired and see if you have the same issue. Also, are there any users who are seperated (out of RF range) of the other users? If so, do they also experience the issue?

Well I have had to bite the bullet and two by two send them in. I just bought a couple of wired keyboards to get us through till the new replacements get back. Wired keyboards work just fine. We are in a metropolitan area with a lot of wireless around us so there most likely is a lot of interference in the office.

I was asked by a Spiceworks named Paul if RMAing the keyboards solved the issue, I am not seeing it in the page, but it came across in an email. Out of respect for this awesome network, below is where I am at.

I sent the keyboards back and issues seem to a little better but still occurs. Ive chalked it up to wireless interference. It seems to be better but its rare or my users stopped complaining as we found turning the keyboard off/on, and removing the USB dongle unifying device and putting it back into USB seems to help long enough for them.

I read that the unifying devices use the same frequency and can cause issue if to close, cannot varify, but seems plausible. I think we have just learned to deal with it. I also went around and erased and added each keyboard with the unifying software just in case i moved them around and another keyboard was still attached. I think the training employees how to reset it helps out the most.
