Looking for an extremely quiet wireless keyboard

I’m looking for an extremely quiet wireless keyboard for our client conference room that also needs to have the wireless connection encrypted. I’ve tried the Logitech MK520 but apparently it’s too loud. We had the HP Wireless Elite v2 Desktop which was quiet enough but the connection dropped at times (only 10 ft away from the PC) and the wireless connection isn’t encrypted.

Any suggestions? If I can find a wireless keyboard that is as quiet as a laptop that’d be great (with wireless encryption). I don’t think management would like a laser projection keyboard either.

Thanks,

Dave

Logitech K750 is pretty quiet IMO and has the bonus of being solar powered. Pretty much any mechanical keyboard with dampeners (little o-rings that keep the key from bottoming out) will be pretty quiet as well.

The logiteh K780 is pretty sweet and allows you to connect to up to 3 different computers.

imo, you may need a silicone type kybd for the conference/office space the silicone is a natural cushion that suppresses the noise factor in key strokes when ferociously recording the meeting or conference details

for example this

I use this at several locations https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-ca/products/keyboards/all-in-one-media-keyboard/n9z-00002
Has encryption, small footprint, includes a touchpad.

Another vote for the Logitech K750 solar wireless keyboard. I’ve got two: one at home and one at work. They are super quiet. I’ve had them both for about 2-3 years and I only just recently replaced the rechargeable battery in the one at work. They last a long time.

This is a bit of an out of the box solution but I’ve always been a fan of my Lenovo keyboard remote

https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Enhanced-Multimedia-Backlit-Keyboard/dp/B005L2NTTQ

quiet and has a touchpoint mouse built-in and is handheld

although blackberry has been gone for so long that people may have forgotten how to use a tiny physical qwerty keyboard again

What do you mean the Wireless connection encrypted on a keyboard?

I would go with a Bluetooth not a wireless keyboard as they have the security of the Bluetooth connection and they have a little more range and are not affected by variable such as cordless phones as much as the wireless keyboards since they usually operate on the same frequency as cordless phones. Also if there are other ppl using similar wireless keyboards they can interfere with the connection since they will be definitely using the same frequency

Downside to a Bluetooth connected device is that you have to pair it with the clients devices.

If he means by “client conference room”, a room where they meet clients for conferences this can be an issue.

The advantage of a wireless keyboard is that 90% of the time you can just plug in the dongle and go.

I was going to suggest the MS Wedge Bluetooth keyboard but its no longer for sale. :frowning:

As someone who shares a house with a touch typist I can recommend Apples aluminium keyboards - the quietest we tried after many tests. Not cheap but worth it for the lack of background noise…

I’m currently using the Logitech K750. While it’s not extremely loud, I don’t find it particularly quite.

That one was news to me also. I checked out the link somebody above posted and it does list AES encryption as a feature.

Another vote for the Logitech K750. I’m using the Mac version. The Logitech Unifying Receiver has 128-bit AES encryption. Also using a compatible mouse, the Logitech M310.

Hi there, OP- just wanted to let you know that TigerDirect does carry quite a few of the brands and models that were mentioned in this thread, at competitive prices.

Here’s what we carry: TigerDirect Sunset

Let me know if you have any questions or need any help!

Thanks for your responses. I went ahead and ordered the Logitech K780 and the K800. The K780 is advertised as a quiet keyboard and I read many reviews on the K800 as being quiet as well. I wasn’t interested in a solar powered keyboard, especially when the conference room is dark most of the time (in the middle of the bldg with no natural light). I’ll update this after we tried both out (will be sending one back).

We use these in our conference rooms. They have encryption, although I’m not sure if they’re quiet enough for you. “Quiet” is a pretty relative term.
